The social phenomenon notably known at this moment as OTAKU was introduced as a typical case of "communication-deficiency syndrome" in the work written by Azusa Nakajima in 1991. However, unlike what Nakajima says, those who are considered as Otaku are very active in their communication through sharing common field of hobbies.
